The Bhut Jolokia chilli, with its 1,000,000 SHU, is considered one of the hottest varieties in the world. Belonging to the species Capsicum chinense.
Native to North Eastern India and neighboring Bangladesh, the fresh fruit has a conical rounded shape at the end about 4cm long by 2cm wide. The young and green fruit takes on an intense orange color as it ripens until it reaches a deep red, due to its high content of carotenoids.
In the Assamese language "bhut" means "ghost", hence in English Ghost Chili. It is also known by other names such as Bih Jolokia (poisonous pepper) or Naga Jolokia, where naga in Sanskrit identifies the snake cobra, probably because the heat it develops in its mouth strikes like a snake.
During the production process, particular techniques of cold humidity extraction were adopted, allowing to keep the characteristic aromas of chilli pepper as unaltered as possible.
Bhut Jolokia has intense hints of red fruits and spice blends like Indian curry, with reminiscences of sweet smoked. It is therefore that it adapts very well to stewed meats and to all exotic sauces used to season vegetable-based preparations and soups.
Mixed with soy sauce, it becomes an inviting alternative to wasabi, of which it recalls the pungent smell, thus becoming a valid stew for sushi.
Among the various healthy microelements, Bhut Jolokia also contains Vitamin A which helps keep eyes, hair and skin in perfect health and above all contains Vitamin C, which not only stops the spread of free radicals, but is useful and necessary. to strengthen the barriers of the immune system, lowering the risk of cancer by inhibiting the synthesis of carcinogenic substances. Furthermore, recent studies scientifically confirm that using chili peppers in our diet at least 4 times a week halves the risk of heart attack.
